How to choose a minivan camper conversion kit

Five questions to ask before you buy a kit for your minivan, then how to choose between our three models.

Five questions before you buy

Does the rear cargo space stay free? Once the third row is out, the rear cargo space is where your bags and gear go. With all three of our models, Samhall, Hygge and Lya, it stays free every time, because the kit sits forward to leave you that space.

Does anything get screwed into your minivan? Nothing is screwed into your minivan, and installation doesn't alter the vehicle. The kit anchors and fits right into the vehicle, and everything is secured for the road. You can take it out and put it back when you need to, though it isn't meant to come out every weekend.

Can you cook inside? Samhall and Hygge share the same built-in kitchen, made to use inside: counter, stainless steel sink, faucet with an electric pump, 11 L fresh and grey water jugs, and room for a portable fridge and a battery. The kitchen comes out in 5 to 10 minutes, ideally with two people, if you want the space back. Lya has no kitchen, it's the simplest and most open of the three.

Where is it made? We design and build our kits in our shop near Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, with CNC-cut parts and a birch finish. Installation happens at our shop too, in about 2 hours, and it's included in the price.

How long is the wait? Lead time is usually 4 to 6 weeks from your order. It's an estimate, it can vary in busy periods, and we set the installation date with you.

Samhall, Hygge or Lya?

All three fit every minivan we work with, so your vehicle doesn't pick the model. How you travel does.

Samhall, for two, with a kitchen. Our most versatile model. Full-width 48 × 72 in bed, four full-width drawers, two side modules, the built-in kitchen and a removable table you can use inside or out.

Hygge, mostly solo, with the most storage. The bed is 38 × 72 in, and the space it frees up becomes an extra cabinet with two vertical drawers and an upper cabinet. Same kitchen as the Samhall, and a bit more storage overall.

Lya, the simplest, no kitchen. The lightest and most open of the three. Full-width 48 × 72 in bed and four full-width drawers. It also gives you the most freedom to keep second-row seats, depending on their position.

Whatever the model, you get a bed that converts into a sofa, a 4 in high-density foam mattress with a washable cover, four drawers under the bed and a birch finish.

Still deciding?
